Many times we get enveloped by worldly matters and forget that we are in constant war against the Shaytaan. He will take every opportunity to lead us astray and we will not be able to blame him for anything on the day of judgment, for he will say…

And Satan will say when the matter has been concluded, “Indeed Allah has promised you the promise of truth. And I promised you, but I betrayed you. But I had no authority over you, except that I invited you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; but blame yourselves. I cannot be called to your aid. Indeed, I deny your association of me [with Allah] before. Indeed for the wrongdoers is a painful punishment.” [14:22]

When I read this I ayah I asked myself, how much more clear can Allah SWT be? He has told us that this is what will happen on the day of judgment, we will not be able to blame Shaytan for misleading us, there will be no one to aid us on this day. Only we will be questioned and accounted for what we did and no one, absolutely no one will take blame for anything we did. We all need to remember to keep our guards up against Shaytaan!
